Sweater Season Psychological Services, PLLC
Hello!
I am Hillary Hurst Bush, PhD (she/her), and Sweater Season Psychological Services, PLLC is the independent practice I proudly established in 2023. I am a licensed psychologist in Massachusetts (#10704), Connecticut (#4167), Rhode Island (#PS02043), and California (#33683).
Through Sweater Season, I provide evidence-based teletherapy to children, teens, young adults, and parents. I am also trained and skilled in neuropsychological assessment, which informs my approach to therapy, and vice versa. In addition to owning and operating Sweater Season, I am the Clinical Director at Ellen Braaten, PhD & Associates. I also teach undergraduate and doctoral students as an Associate Lecturer at UMass Boston, where I earned my PhD in 2016. It was a privilege to begin my career at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where I completed post-doctoral training, and served as a faculty member and staff psychologist for three years.
My approach to therapy is kind, gentle, playful, and optimistic. I most frequently draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), humanistic therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) principles in working with my patients, who are culturally and clinically diverse. I am best able to serve patients who are experiencing anxiety (including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, specific phobias, and obsessions and compulsions), depression, parent-child behavior challenges, life transitions, academic stress, friendship problems, and sleep problems. Much of my graduate training, including my dissertation, was focused on autism, and I continue to enjoy working with autistic young people and their families. I am a great communicator and an even better listener, and I do everything I can to meet my patients where they are, and to make therapy what they want and need it to be.
A Massachusetts native, I grew up in both Malden and Walpole, and I graduated from Wellesley College in 2006. I am the mother of two young children, and our joys are New England roadtrips, backyard parties, live entertainment, and arts and crafts.
